0844 Numbers

Why an 0844 number helps your organisation

An 0844 number gives your business a national number that is not tied to a location. Some businesses choose 0844 because the service charge can help offset the cost of running the line. As part of the 084 group, 0844 generally carries lower service charges than 087 numbers, which makes it a middle ground for businesses that want a service number without the higher charges found on many 087 lines.

It is important to be open with callers about cost. People calling an 0844 number pay more than they would for an 03 number, and you must show the service charge wherever you advertise the number. If keeping calls as cheap as possible is your priority, an 0330 number may suit you better, and our team is happy to talk through both options.

About 0844 numbers

0844 numbers are service numbers in the format 0844 xxx xxxx. Since July 2015, when Ofcom's UK calling changes came in, every call to an 084 or 087 number has two parts. The caller pays an access charge set by their own phone company, plus a service charge set by the organisation they are calling. You must state your service charge wherever you advertise your 0844 number, for example with a short note giving the charge per minute plus the caller's phone company access charge. When you choose an 0844 number, our team will confirm the service charge that applies to it.
