FAQ

City number questions

Do I need to be based in the city?
No. Any business can use any UK area code. You can be in Bristol with a Manchester number, or work from home with a Birmingham number. Calls are diverted to wherever you answer them.
Will my customers pay more to call a city number?
No. Calls to city numbers are charged like any other UK landline call and are usually included in your callers' inclusive minutes.
Where can my calls go?
Anywhere in the UK: a landline, a mobile, or our cloud phone system. You can change the destination at any time in myAlphaTalk, or set different destinations for office hours and evenings.
What are silver, gold and platinum numbers?
They are more memorable numbers, repeated digits or easy patterns, that carry a one-off charge. Standard numbers have no setup fee. Platinum numbers are priced on application. See our golden numbers.
Can I have numbers in more than one city?
Yes. Many customers have a number for each area they cover, all diverting to the same team, and each one comes with its own 1,000 free UK minutes.
Can I bring a number I already have?
