Number porting: keep your business number

Bring your existing numbers to Alphatalk. We deal with your old provider, agree the date with you and move your numbers at no charge.

Switch without losing anything

Your number stays the same. Your provider changes.

The number on your website, your van and your customers' phones is worth keeping. Porting moves it from your current provider to us, so you can switch to a better price or a cloud phone system without telling anyone a new number.

We handle the paperwork with your old provider. Before the switch we set your number up on our side, with your diverts, greetings and phone system ready, so it works the moment it arrives.

FAQ

Number porting questions

Is there a charge to move my numbers to Alphatalk?
No. We handle the port for you at no charge. You only pay for your numbers or phone system once they are with us.
How long does porting take?
It depends on the type of number and your current provider. We give you a date as soon as your provider accepts the request, and keep you updated until your numbers have moved.
Will I lose calls during the move?
We set everything up before the day, so calls start ringing on your new setup as soon as the number arrives. Keep your current service running until then.
Can I move only some of my numbers?
Yes. Tell us which numbers to move. If other numbers share the same line, we will check what happens to them before we start.
Should I cancel my current contract first?
No. Cancelling first can mean losing the number. Wait until your numbers have moved, and check your current contract for notice periods or charges.
What if my port is rejected?
Ports are usually rejected because details do not match the old account. We tell you what to correct and send the request again.
Is there a minimum term?
New numbers have no long contract. Ported numbers and services have their own minimum term, set out in our terms and conditions, and we confirm it with you before anything moves.
