VOIP Phone Case Study 1
A new start-up business
Sarah was starting her new business and needed to equip her office with a small but feature-packed phone system. She would be going into the business with a partner and would also be employing a receptionist to answer calls and also to provide administrative assistance. Sarah required at least three handsets to begin with and wanted scope to be able to add additional handsets in the future. Sarah also anticipated receiving and making many calls, wanting a value for money package that enabled lower cost calls to both UK landline and UK mobile phone numbers.
Her options were limited:
Rent three simple phone lines from BT with no interconnectivity between phones
Rent a single ISDN line from BT and also purchase an expensive ISDN PBX control unit which would provide interconnectivity between her phones.
We presented a third solution to Sarah that would give her the connectivity between her phones that she needed but also at a price that wasn’t prohibitive for a newly founded business.

Our VOIP service provides full interconnectivity between phones with features such as call transfers, call recording and having all phones ring at once. The phones also feature the ability to forward all calls to a mobile phone or alternative phone number, all from the VOIP handset itself. All three phones can also be dependent on each other, making and receiving calls from their own DDIs without any interference because VOIP utilises a broadband connection for telephone calls. Sarah is now able to bypass BT’s traditional network and rely on it only for ADSL broadband which the office required anyway. Sarah’s VOIP phones plug straight into her ADSL router with the option to add further VOIP handsets as and when required
VOIP Phone Case Study 2
A small business adding more phones with VOIP
Tom runs his own online art dealership where he is the sole member of staff. He is looking to take on an assistant at his two room leased office in Manchester city centre. Currently, Tom has one BT phone line that he uses for calls and to provide ADSL broadband to his office. Tom requires an additional phone without the expense of paying for a secondary BT phone line.
Tom would also like access to cheaper international call rates where he often calls other art dealers abroad along with clients from all over the world.

1 x Yealink entry-level VOIP desk phone at £69.99 each
1 x VOIP user license at £5.00 per month
Because VOIP only relies on an existing broadband connection, Tom can add an additional handset for his assistant by simply plugging in a new VOIP phone. We took care of all the configurations so the VOIP phone truly plugged and play. VOIP also gave Tom access to cheaper call rates and line rental compared to BT, particularly where his international calls were concerned. Finally, Tom also has the choice of keeping his two phone lines separate from each other or we can connect the two together for full interconnectivity between his existing phone number and his new VOIP phone.

A larger existing business looking to expand
Sam is a successful business owner, specializing in carpets, fixtures, and fittings. His business has expanded dramatically in the last 10 years as part of the boom in house sales and home improvements. Based in the same location since he first started, Sam has historically added extra phone lines supplied by BT when additional call capacity was required. Each additional BT phone line came with its own costs with a current total of 6 individual lines within the building.

6 x Yealink cordless VOIP phones at £83.99 each
6 x VOIP user licenses at £5.00 per month
With our proposal, Sam is able to cancel five of his six BT phone lines, making a good saving each month compared to what he was previously paying with BT. All of the different telephone numbers that Sam’s business has acquired over the years can also be migrated to our VOIP platform, resulting in no disruption of service for his customers and suppliers. Yealink, our preferred VOIP phone manufacturer, produce a cordless model of their popular desk-based VOIP phones; these are ideal for Sam’s floor staff to carry around the premises and take calls regardless of where they are. Because our VOIP offering takes advantage of calls using Sam’s existing broadband connection, we are able to save him between 40% and 50% on his call charges compared to BT, particularly with calls to mobile phones and international destinations receiving a generous discount.
Finally, Sam will be able to install additional VOIP handsets when extra capacity is required again upon the next expansion. We only have a minimum 12-month term on the first handset with all subsequent handsets carrying an even lower 3-month minimum term for true flexibility.
